Panasonic is looking for interns to join our creative team of engineers. Our engineers are hard-working, goal-oriented, and creative, and they are looking for interns to train. Engineering intern areas include: Materials Engineering, Hardware Development and Installation, Cell and Process Engineering, Transportation Design, Safety Engineering, Data Analytics, Strategic Controls, and IS.
Conducts battery cell manufacturing process improvement for mass production lines
Conducts research and development work for new and existing production lines to improve cell assembly process on safety, quality, and productivity
Analyzes and evaluate cell physical data. This may include dimensions of jelly roll, cell and cross-sectional dimensions. From this data evaluation is needed to determine direct and interaction effects of the machinery and processes
Analyzes operating procedures and functions of equipment and machinery to reduce time and cost of assembly manufacturing processes
Provides engineering support to cell assembly and electrode production teams to resolve manufacturing process issues
Works closely with other team members to increase understanding of failure modes, performance, and life expectancy of cell products
Applies principles and knowledge of engineering to solve manufacturing problems
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Requirements:
- To ensure the health and safety in the workplace and for the protection of our employees, wearing PPE is a possibility and may include equipment such as a full Tyvek suit, safety shoes, gloves, safety glasses, face mask, bump cap, and a full hazmat suit that includes a respirator.

Qualifications: Requirements - Required and/or Preferred
- Basic/Required: B.S./M.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related discipline Preferred: None
Evidence of exceptional ability. Panasonic follows a culture of full-cycle engineering where members will have full responsibility and accountability for their projects from start to finish.
Must be currently enrolled as a fulltime student at an accredited four-year college or university.
GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Demonstrated experience solving difficult hands-on engineering problems with an ability to clearly articulate technical detail and thought process
Familiarity with basic lithium-ion battery chemistry
Good understanding of basic manufacturing principles
Strong problem-solving skills
Strong organizational skills
Excellent interpersonal, teamwork, and collaboration skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to write and communicate technical information clearly and concisely
Skilled with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook)
Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems
Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English
Previous coursework in battery science, materials analysis, or advanced manufacturing
Hands-on full-cycle engineering experience acquired through internships, jobs, research, or personal projects
A desire to create a sustainable future through energy storage, renewable energy, and electric vehicles
The program will be a fulltime paid summer internship working for Panasonic at the Gigafactory
The program will be 10 weeks in length, and is planned to occur between Monday, May 31st and Friday, August 6th. This date range is subject to change
