The Resource RN provides optimal patient care utilizing knowledge and skills within the context of evidence based nursing practice and the theory of human caring. The RN is accountable for individualized patient care and outcomes over an entire episode of care. This position may be utilized as a resource RN in the areas of Emergency Department, Medical/Surgical/Telemetry, ICU, Maternal Child units, and other areas where competencies are shown.
Nature and Scope
The Resource RN must provide optimal patient care through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients and families.
The Resource RN must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care based on physical, motor/sensor, psychosocial, and safety appropriate to the age of the patient served and meets standards of quality as measured by the unit/department special populations competency standards.
When possible, the family or those significant to the family are considered as part of the assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation efforts of this position. The Resource RN coordinates care between other professionals.
Evidence based nursing practice, along with critical thinking skills are required to provide optimally safe patient care when interacting with internal and external contacts and exercising judgment and making decisions. Professional nursing practice is congruent with the American Nurses Association Code of Ethics.
Resource RNs who are full time or part time will float to the medical surgical module (all units), the critical care module (telemetry at minimum), and the maternal child module (Pediatrics and Post-Partum at minimum).
Resource RNs who are per diem will float to the medical surgical module (all units) at minimum.
RNs may also float to competencies within the hospital.
This position will work one major holiday per year (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years) AND one minor holiday per year (President’s Day, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Nevada Day, and/or Veteran’s Day).
This position doesprovide patient care.

Minimum QualificationsRequirements – Required and/or Preferred
Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing and speaking English.
One year of acute care experience preferred.
Ability to obtain and maintain a State of Nevada Registered Nurse license.
BLS required. ACLS certification by American Heart Association standards required within six (6) months of hire for 200725.

Must possess, or be able to obtain within 90 days, the computers skills necessary to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc.
