Oracle Principal Applications Engineer in Reno, Nevada

Analyze, design develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for commercial or end user applications. Writes code, completes programming and performs testing and debugging of applications.

As a member of the software engineering division, you will analyze and integrate external customer specifications. Specify, design and implement modest changes to existing software architecture. Build new products and development tools. Build and execute unit tests and unit test plans. Review integration and regression test plans created by QA. Communicate with QA and porting engineering to discuss major changes to functionality.

Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 7 years of software engineering or related experience.

This is a remote/office based position which may be performed anywhere in the United States except for within the state of Colorado.

As part of the Sustenance Engineering team successful candidate will be actively working on resolving high severity Production issues. In this environment the Principal Application engineer will be called upon to analyze problems, suggest and assess multiple alternative solutions, and implement the best solution. Senior Application Engineer will also be responsible to maintenance and development of existing and new services

Responsibilities include:

·Work independently with minimal supervision

·Research and identify solutions to high severity issues and implement them

·Properly escalate unresolved issues to appropriate internal teams

·Prioritize and manage several open issues at one time

-Service maintenance and implementation using J2EE stack

Candidates must have:

·Minimum 7 Java/J2EE development experience

·Strong experience with Web-tier development using technologies such as Spring, JPA

·Good experience with at least one of the popular J2EE Application Servers is a must (experience with Jetty is a plus)

·Good experience with writing SQL (experience with SQL Server is a plus)

·Experience with Elastic stack is a plus

·Experience with writing unit tests using Junit

·Track record of rapidly learning and incorporating new technologies into his/her skill set

·Expert analytical and troubleshooting skills

·Ability to effectively communicate technical, business, and design information

·Proven ability to deliver high-quality, tested software on time

·Excellent written and verbal communication skills

·Experience with Agile methodology and Scrum is a plus

  • Experience in designing and implementing micro services

-Experience in Linux OS

Ideal candidate has excellent organizational, planning and time management skills, with a successful track record of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
