Pfizer Inc. Associate Scientist BioProcess Fermentation in Reno, Nevada
The Associate Scientist will assist in the planning and execution of cell culture and mRNA methods required to develop upstream processes for the production of vaccine antigen candidates. The position requires some experience of mammalian cell culture, and knowledge/experience of mRNA synthesis would be desirable. The incumbent will work with Senior Scientists to design and optimize our processes. Careful documentation of work and presentation of data is required.
Assist in the execution of experiments to optimize and enhance vaccine production while maintaining high quality.
Media/Buffer preparation to support various workstreams.
Maintain inventories of key reagents
Present problems and propose solutions in discussions with group members. Offer insights based on experience to group members to help solve existing problems.
Work with Senior Scientists to plan and prioritize workstreams
Analyze experimental data.
Keep abreast of scientific/ technological development by participating in scientific meetings/ seminars and through regular scientific review.
Make timely notebook entries and review for completed experiments.
Must perform experiments in a meticulous & aseptic manner
BS degree in biochemistry, biotechnology, bioengineering, or molecular biology
Has experience with analytical techniques such as SDS-PAGE, PCR, NanoDrop, Western blot, Plasmid purification, Enzymatic digestion
Ability to organize and execute experiments
Ability to work with limited supervision
Collaborates in a team environment
Has a proven ability to organize and tabulate data
There are no special physical requirements for this role other than the ability to make aseptic transfers and perform the relevant laboratory functions. Mental requirements are a detailed understanding of the scientific subject matter, an ability to make scientific judgments and an ability to perform complex data analysis.
