Information Technology (IT) Managers are responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and controlling the IT activities, in one or more IT specialization areas, of the State, a department, or a division.
Incumbents function as managers who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of subordinate supervisors; develop policies and procedures; and allocate staff and resources to accomplish goals and objectives. The Department of Administration, Enterprise IT Services is recruiting for a Chief IT Manager. Under general administrative direction of the EITS Deputy Administrator, the incumbent is responsible for the oversight of the EITS Communications Unit, which includes IT Operations, Network Engineering, Telecom, and Microwave. The position is responsible for maintaining Communication Unit service compliance with federal and state requirements such as HIPAA, CJIS, IRS, FERPA, PCI and others. The IT Chief Manager works closely with EITS leadership and provides enterprise-level support and services to agencies across the state. The IT Chief Manager assists in developing and monitoring Communication Unit budgets and service rate structures by reviewing and analyzing past and current expenditure patterns; service billings; utilization projections; current service funding levels; projected personnel and equipment needs; and, requests for additional services by customers and users. The position creates, maintains, and promotes advancement and training programs for subordinate managers and employees including succession planning.
The IT Chief Manager reviews and provides contractual content for pertinent vendor agreements and manages subsequent contractual tasks and scope-of-work. The IT Chief Manager provides metrics and content for Request for Proposals (RFPs) and participates in product and vendor selection. The Chief IT Manager plans and implements critical IT initiatives and monitors related projects closely to ensure success. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in computer science, management information systems, or closely related field and eight years of progressively responsible professional IT experience which involved strategic planning, project management, quality assurance, and computer operations, systems administration, network administration, database administration, applications analysis and development, or information security. Five years of this experience must have been in a supervisory or project manager capacity; OR one year of experience as an IT Manager III in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special RequirementsThis position is subject to call-out or call-back. Statewide travel is required. A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items. A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant. This position has a 25% travel requirement. This position is subject to working Nights/Holidays/Weekends. Requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.
