Prepare layout, investigate preliminary information to develop designs; prepare preliminary sketches and schematic diagrams, assembly and section drawings showing interrelated dimensions; calculate strength of materials. This position requires a WTCA Truss Technician Level I certification for truss designs.
Read and interpret blueprints.
Assist with developing and completing design details from original concept drawings and prepare layouts.
Ensure conformance to all relevant building requirements and municipality building codes, if applicable.
Interpret design requirements as indicated by procedures, design manuals, and other applicable specifications.
Plan sequence of drawings, as required.
Compute and enter quantities into database program.
May select and specify design materials to be used.
Generate and provide accurate pricing for estimating purposes.
Generate layouts for final construction.
Review design(s) for most efficient and profitable use of inventory, equipment, and manpower as time permits.
Ensure designs are accurate, optimized, and conforms to standards.
Prepare change notices for an assigned group engaged in the design of assemblies and structures.
Assist in maintaining Company's computer hardware and software to ensure current pricing and design criteria is up-to-date.
Develop and recommend implementation of new or adaptation of existing policies, practices, procedures, and techniques.
Aid in training of new employees when required.
Demonstrate a commitment to the quality improvement process and the philosophy of continuous improvement; identify and respond actively and with sensitivity to the needs of all customers; participate as a team player in all phases of the organization; and is open and responsive to change.
Personally provide customers with knowledgeable, courteous, and prompt service at all times.
Comply with all Company policies and procedures.
Adhere to the Company’s safety standards and enforce safety regulations.
Other duties as assigned.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
Ability to effectively present information to top management, fellow employees, and customers.
Ability to write reports, memos, and correspondence.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Requires a WTCA Truss Technician Level I certification for truss designs
Advanced computer skills and mathematics normally needed. Working knowledge of CAD programs.
Associate’s degree in related field preferred and at least 1 year of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
