PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The Network Technician is responsible for installation & de-installation of cabling, cross connects and maintenance of network devices, and related infrastructure. This individual ensures that the network devices & infrastructure and related procedures adhere to organizational values. Work in person with customers who are experiencing connection issues with their network devices (Phones, Tablets, and PC’s) and work with 2nd level support to resolve network related issues both Wi-Fi and cabled.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Interact in person with customers who are experiencing issues connecting to the network
Install, terminate, maintain, and troubleshoot network cabling infrastructure including: Moves, Adds, and Changes of any network or related equipment
Troubleshoot network hardware problems and cable plant issues including Fiber Optic, UTP, STP, etc.
Fluent in all test equipment and can train others on the use of them: Corning Fusion Splicer, Fluke OTDR, Fluke DTX1800, Fluke Simple fiber, Fluke Link Runner Pro, etc.
Research and document cable plant infrastructure
Configure network hardware for Edge network equipment, Core network equipment, and Serial-to-IP devices
Install network hardware and cable assemblies, both copper and fiber
Manage Contractor access into areas as required
Perform other job-related duties as requested
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Mechanically inclined
Knowledgeable of casino/hotel environment and computing operations within and how business structure is affected by changes
Able to effectively communicate in English, in both written and verbal forms
Able to lead and mentor a team
Ability to multi-task and work well in a fast paced, team-oriented environment
Excellent organizational skills to function effectively under time constraints and within established deadlines, with particular attention to detail
Excellent customer service skills and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with all business contacts
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma or equivalent
Two (2) years networking infrastructure experience
Work varied shifts, to include weekends and holidays
PREFERRED:
Two (2) year college degree in Information Systems/Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field
Certified in industry recognized vendor certifications
