Southwest Gas Corporation Sr. Analyst/SAP in Las Vegas, Nevada

The Senior Business Analyst/SAP is responsible for developing, supporting and documenting business processes, procedures and systems. This position configures applications and provides functional oversight for custom software development. This position also assists in project management, implementation planning and test approach/planning.

The Senior Business Analyst/SAP will support a broad range of SAP modules, including planning and purchasing (PP), materials management (MM), inventory / warehouse management (IM / WM), sales and distribution (SD), S4HANA and C4C. In addition, OpenText and Click Software and SAP Business Intelligence (BI) will also be utilized and supported.

This position works in collaboration with business and other IT staff to translate business requirements into functional specifications. Working closely with the development team (internal and external) to ensure timely solutions according to the specifications of the business needs. Produce appropriate documentation and actively participate in development of technical and workflow solutions. Provide leadership in working with business subject matter experts, developers, and quality assurance staff to ensure deliverables are met. Mentor members of the IT team, assisting in the development of analytical skills, business understanding and SAP configuration. Utilizing information systems to improve efficiency and make recommendations for implementation of new systems or necessary upgrades that will best meet customer and company requirements. Working on blended project teams consisting of web developers, software engineers, functional analysts and business users at various levels in the organization to deliver projects to support the company’s short & long-term strategic roadmap. Guides implementation of SAP modules utilizing internal and external IT resources effectively.

  • Perform project level analyses and produce required project analysis and communicate the ideas through flowchart, narrative, and documentation

  • Identify improvement opportunities related to SAP, OpenText and Click

  • Elicit and clearly document business and systems requirements

  • Assess business processes and system inefficiencies

  • Identify ways in which adoption and customer satisfaction can be increased

  • Understand and negotiate needs and expectations of multiple stakeholders

  • Meet with a project team regularly to review project deliverables and deadlines

  • Assist with the development and maintenance of process improvement infrastructure; assist other team members when needed

  • Support and align efforts to meet business needs

  • Manage relationships and expectations by developing a communication process to keep others up-to-date on project results

  • Establish and maintain liaison relationship with business partners and IT organization to provide effective technical solutions

  • Conduct data gathering and analysis to understand business strategy requirements

  • Contributes to the business short-term and analyzes system data long-term planning sessions and provide recommendations direction to ensure understanding of business goals and direction

  • Provide input from a business and IT perspective

  • Perform system testing of enhancements, patches and configuration changes

  • Perform “What if” scenarios and deliver solutions to known problems

  • Develop productivity tools and key performance indicators across multiple delivery methods for multiple audiences

  • Develop scripts and queries for data collection and analysis

  • Coordinate tests with third-party service providers

  • Understand the Company’s core business and functions

  • Ensure customer satisfaction related to application performance and end-user experience

  • Maintain communication with the user community to keep them abreast of current updates

  • Perform needs assessment of user requested enhancements

  • Integrate new systems through testing and configuration

  • Develop standards, procedures, performance appraisals, salary changes, and disciplinary actions

  • Provides input/oversight in the department’s activities/responsibilities including planning, scheduling, staffing, monitoring, traveling, and reporting

  • Assess business needs utilizing a structured requirements process (gather, analyze, document, and manage changes) to assist in identifying business priorities and advices on options

  • Develop, write, and communicate business requirements and functional specifications for the implementation of business solutions

  • Perform related duties and responsibilities as assigned

  • Regular and predictable attendance is a condition of employment and is an essential function of the job

This position requires four to six years of technical SAP work experience and a bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Business or Computer Science from an accredited university.

The following qualifications are also required:

  • Systems Testing and IT Implementation experience

  • Project Management experience

  • Utilities experience

  • Excellent analytical skills and a sense of urgency

  • Experience working with cross-functional teams

  • Experience with process mapping

  • Organized with the ability to work in a dynamic, rapidly changing environment and the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects at once

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills

  • Experience with and passion for implementing change and continual improvement

  • Demonstrated fluency in business processes and process differentiation

  • Ability to analyze and synthesize business requirements, including recognizing patterns and conceptualizing processes

    Supervisory experience and SAP certification preferred.
