WSP is currently initiating a search for a Lead Traffic Engineer for our Las Vegas, NV office.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform traffic design tasks requiring creativity, foresight and mature engineering judgment in the evaluation, selection and substantial adaptation and modification of standard design or engineering techniques and procedures
Design traffic elements (Traffic Signal, Signing and Striping, ITS and Lighting Plans)
Lead traffic studies and operational analyses of intersections, corridors, interchanges, freeways, and ramps
Develop maintenance of traffic and traffic control concepts and plans
Manage project or direct traffic tasks on projects and monitor project progress for technical accuracy and adherence to schedule and budget
Attend project progress meetings, design review, operations, and project production and delivery
Perform field work, including site inventories and/or traffic data collection
Coordinate with other design disciplines, including roadway, structures, environmental, hydraulics/drainage, storm water, electrical, utilities and right of way
Prepare project reports, plans, specifications, and estimate bid packages
Bicycle and pedestrian facility review and design
Supervise and perform MicroStation or AutoCAD drafting to support various design teams
Take an active role in business development related to traffic/ITS engineering projects in the regional market
Other duties as assigned

Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field from an accredited program
Seven (7) years of experience in traffic and transportation engineering, including traffic signal and ITS design
Nevada PE registration, or ability to receive within 6 months
Experience developing bid packages, including plans, construction cost estimates, and technical specifications
Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills and ability to work within a team environment
Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office and traffic engineering software, e.g., HCS, Synchro & SimTraffic, VISSIM, and/or CORSIM
Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
Master of Science in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field from an accredited program
Familiar with MUTCD, HCM, AASHTO, ITE guidelines, ADA Accessibility Guidelines, and the NVDOT Roadway Design Manual
Experience with AutoCAD, MicroStation, AutoTURN, GuideSIGN, and/or ArcGIS
Experience and/or ability to perform field work, including site inventories and/or traffic data collection
Experience with site trip generation, operational analysis of intersections and roadways, crash and safety analyses, signal design, and/or signing and striping layout and design
