Amentum Embedded Engineer in Las Vegas, Nevada

JT4 provides engineering and technical support to multiple western test ranges for the U.S. Air Force and Navy under the Joint Range Technical Services Contract, better known as J-Tech II. We develop and maintain realistic integrated test and training environments, and prepare our nation's war-fighting aircraft, weapons systems, and air crews for today's missions and tomorrow's global challenges.


Performs a variety of engineering tasks under general supervision of a senior-level engineer in design, development, manufacturing, testing, installation, integration, sustainment, operations, and maintenance of software, electronic, and/or mechanical equipment and systems. Work will involve some evaluation, originality, or ingenuity and is generally performed as a member of a development, sustainment, or operations & maintenance team. The best fit for this job will be;

  1. Knowledgeable of Object Oriented design and software design principles.

  2. Knowledgeable of embedded software development techniques.

  3. Experience with Qt or similar development packages and libraries.

  4. Knowledgeable of configuration management using tools such as git or subversion.

  5. Familiar with Linux and Windows operating systems.

  6. Able to conduct research and reference reading to assist higher-level engineers in obtaining technical information; informed of currently approved standards, codes and procedures applied to engineering specialty.

  7. Able to perform engineering tasks that are varied, with established deadlines and may be somewhat difficult in character.

  8. Able to plan and carry out successive engineering steps and resolve technical problems by standard practices and techniques such as tolerance studies and design calculations.

  9. Able to support projects with limited scope or parts of more complex projects with detailed instructions on the intent and scope of the documents to be prepared.

  10. Able to generate sections of design specifications of more complex projects or complete specifications of less complex projects.

  11. Able to use computer-assisted test methods, conduct laboratory investigation on equipment or systems.

  12. Able to assist in preparation of reports, correspondence or technical studies.

  13. Educated in currently approved standards, code and procedures applied to the engineering specialty.

  14. Able to prepare, deliver and submit technical presentations for in-process design and review meetings.

  15. Willing to perform all other position-related duties as assigned or requested.

This position involves work typical of an office environment with no unusual hazards. There is occasional lifting to 20 pounds, constant sitting with occasional use of computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, and constant mental alertness. Routine travel to remote Company work locations may be required.


The incumbent must have a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET-accredited academic institution with 2 years of related engineering experience, or have an accredited Master of Science in Engineering. The candidate must have professional knowledge of applicable engineering concepts and principles and familiarity with related engineering fields. The candidate must have practical knowledge of test methods and practices sufficient to perform routine to more complex engineering procedures and to prepare or make minor modifications of standard test procedures or test equipment work instructions. The incumbent should have a working knowledge of computer systems and computer-based engineering tools and must possess planning/organizing skills. Incumbent will be required to qualify for and maintain a government security clearance and must have a valid, current state driver's license.
