Controller is delegated the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability necessary for completion of all assigned duties:


Assists the CFO in organization’s activities concerned with financial administration including the supervision of Accounting, Reimbursement, Payroll, and Decision Support. Maintains fiscal records, receipts and disbursements, and payroll. Develops and maintains all hospital accounting systems to provide complete and accurate records of hospital assets, liabilities, and financial transactions. Reviews financial and statistical reports. Evaluates accounting reducing costs of accounting operations, and expediting flow of work. Develops timely monthly reporting mechanism to report financial and other data to all management levels.


Prepares ad hoc reports and projections. Coordinates and prepares the annual hospital budget based on corporate and hospital goals. Provides CFO with recommendation for compilation of data and preparation of financial and operating reports for planning effective administration of hospital activities by management. Ensures that departments under his/her control are in compliance with JCAHO, Federal, State and local requirement. Interprets hospital and departmental policies, objectives and operational procedures to department manager. Assists in coordination of licensing and accreditation activities. Follows stringent safety guidelines. Follows and ensconces the practice of universal precaution. Complies with the Standard of Excellence. Performs all other duties as assigned.

Education:
Bachelors Degree in accounting, business administration, with a strong accounting and analytical emphasis.

Equivalent education or business experience considered. MBA and CPA preferred.


Experience:
Five years experience in financial management position, preferably healthcare. Equivalent education/work experience will be considered.


Equipment Skills:
Proficiency in PC-based analytical, spreadsheet, word processing, and database software required. 10-key by touch desired.


Special Qualifications:

Communication skills, personnel management skills, and financial management skills. Must be analytical and objective in judgement. High degree of judgement, logic and complexity involved. Wide scope of activities relating to all aspects of the financial operation of the hospital. Requires the ability to develop working partnerships with all levels of management. The ability to explain the need for information and the end result of obtaining this information in clear, concise terms is paramount to the success of this position. Daily contacts with all levels of Administration and all Management Staff. Regular and frequent contact with Medical Staff and external customers. Requires positive interpersonal skills.
