Join the team of highly dedicated mental health professionals. We are presently looking for a Part-Time Saturday, Sunday, and Tuesday from 8:00 a.m. til 4:30 p.m. Art Instructor who will be responsible for developing the ability for creative expression in visual and auditory terms, using skills and techniques of artistic and musical expression consistent with Seven Hills Hospital guidelines; to assist patients with therapeutic expression with various artistic and musical interventions.
Teach skills in art, including drawing, painting, and lettering;
Demonstrate techniques in activities such as drawing and painting;
Provide individual and small-group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of patients with varying intellectual and artistic abilities, and to accommodate a variety of instructional activities;
Instruct patients in proper care and use of tools and equipment;
Select and requisition books, instructional materials, tools, instructional aids, and maintain required inventory records;
Explore a variety of musical styles and sounds with patients through singing, percussion, ethnic instruments and improvisation;
Actively participate in music sessions and encouraging patients to do the same
Complete patient medical record documentation;
Demonstrate teamwork flexibility through seeking, accepting, and presenting new ideas with vision, foresight, and patient/cultural sensitivity;
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Associate’s degree in activity therapy or related field preferred.
Previous experience in recreation in a healthcare setting with knowledge of patient population served by the facility also preferred.
