Design Research Lead

The venture design team is comprised of senior multidisciplinary experts collaborating through a venture design process in defining the healthcare problem space, uncovering unmet human needs and creating DTx solutions that are desirable, feasible and viable. As a team member and an individual contributor, you will be part of the venture design team to ensure successful delivery of investable concepts to Bayer’s executive management committee for approval, incubation and market launch.
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary responsibilities of this role, Design Research Lead, are to:
Responsible for working in partnership with the Venture Design team (including product owners, strategic designer, applied behavioral designer, UX designer) to conceive, frame, recruit, execute and synthesize design research in support of developing differentiated solutions and customer experiences;
Responsible for leading the end-to-end research journey of the venture throughout the venture design process;
Design, scope and run research, utilizing a wide variety of qualitative and quantitative methodologies, to gain understanding of all actors and stakeholders involved in the design challenge and their unmet needs;
Facilitate synthesis, and generate insight and opportunities for design solutions and their corresponding business models;
Use research to inspire the venture team, inform for creation of better prototypes and elevate the perspective of all stakeholders;
Turn insights into action by partnering with the venture team to create concept proposals that solve real world problems that are ethical, diverse, inclusive, equitable, sustainable and transparent;
Partner and manage third parties to define, create and execute qualitative and quantitative research studies and activities;
Ensure problems are approached through the integration of multiple data streams, including qual and quant research;
Advocate for insights in order to drive action and impact by providing compelling narratives and artefacts;
Cross-functional partnership with behavior science and data science at Bayer.
Relocation may be available for this role.
Residence based throughout the pandemic, residence based may be an option when the pandemic ends.
Prefer to live in the Northeastern are of the US. (NYC, New York or New Jersey is ideal)
Residence based in the EST or CST of the US and close to an airport.
WHO YOU ARE
Your success will be driven by your demonstration of our LIFE values. More specifically related to this position, Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:
7+ years of experience in qualitative and quantitative research projects;
Track record of successfully managing research projects (within the context of product design cycles),from exploratory and generative research to usability studies, impacting all aspects of desirability, feasibility and viability development;
Mastery of qualitative research methods, including research design and scoping, working across a range of Qualitative methodologies including focus groups, workshops, ethnography and semiotics;
Ability to conduct and oversee quantitative research, design surveys, analyze data and use data to both educate qualitative research studies, complement qualitative findings and elevate them to statistical significance;
Ability to communicate, document and present research data and findings with clear frameworks, data visualizations, actionable insights and compelling storytelling;
Comfortable with working in a healthcare environment, for example consulting with healthcare professionals and clinical research teams as part of a product design and development process;
Comfortable with working in a newly established function and team readily adaptable to changing strategic and organizational requirements;
Excellent communication, collaboration and interpersonal skills;
Strong project management skills;
Entrepreneurial work ethic, pragmatic, goal-oriented and with a can-do attitude.
Design research experience in digital healthcare space;
Experience in working closely with behavior science and data science;
Experience in either a highly effective corporate innovation team or being part of a startup business;
Understands the unique commercial and regulatory considerations relevant to launching digital products in healthcare.
